RT 5.0.1 and RTIR 5.0.1 Now Available

Best Practical is happy to announce the availability of RT 5.0.1 and RTIR 5.0.1. These releases mostly contain bug fixes discovered as users have been upgrading to RT 5, but we also added a few new features. You can download the new releases today. Read on for information on what’s new.

Cleaner Custom Field History

A core feature of RT is the full history it keeps of all changes to a ticket, including changes to custom fields. The history has always shown the old value and the new value, and this was easy to see for single value custom fields like Favorite Color changing from "Green" to "Blue". But for text area fields that might have a paragraph of text, the changes from an old value to a new value were hard to see.

Starting in RT 5.0.1, these fields in the history now have a button to show or hide these changes and the changes are shown with a visual diff to make it easier to see what actually changed.

This cleans up the history when changes are hidden and makes it much easier to see the changes when you need to look back at old values for custom fields.

Dark Theme Improvements

Many people are using the new dark theme in RT 5 and since the release we've gotten feedback on some areas where the dark theme needed some fixes and improvements. We've included a bunch of those fixes and updates for the dark theme in this release. We'll keep working on theme updates for both the light and dark themes as we continue to refine the new bootstrap styles.

We also hope to see people experiment with creating custom themes now that RT uses bootstrap. Let us know if you create and publish a new RT 5 theme!

Inline Edit for RTIR

If you have used RT 5, you know what a great improvement inline edit is for RT, on ticket pages and in search results. We weren't able to get inline edit into RTIR for the initial release, but we're very happy to be able to add it in RTIR 5.0.1. Now all of the custom RTIR ticket pages support inline edit just like core RT.
